Dear Meet Directors and Gym Owners:

It is getting more difficult each year to support the number of meets on the USAG/AAU calendar.  It is especially difficult to book enough judges to support meets in late January, all of February, and the first of March because most of the meets list their highest level of gymnast as a level 10 (even if there are none entered!).  For example, this year we have five meets the first of March requesting level 10 judges!  There are not enough optional judges to service all of these meets.

In an effort to alleviate this problem, we are putting the calendar on-line and Sheila Ragle will add meets to the calendar on an on-going basis.  PLEASE look at the calendar and check the weekend BEFORE you add the meet to the calendar, to be sure it is not already full.  If there are already a few meets that weekend, please choose another weekend, if possible.  If you do choose a crowded weekend, please be aware that you may get 8 optional judges, you may get 4, or you may not get any.

Some gyms have traditionally hosted a meet on a certain weekend each year.  You may have to make some concessions if you stay on that weekend.  You may have to share optional judges with another meet (one using them Saturday and one Sunday), you may have to use four optional judges and run your optional gymnasts two events at a time, or you may choose to bring in out-of-state judges.  However, the status quo is not working and we are hoping that by posting this calendar the meets will be spread throughout the season more evenly, which will help up to provide judges to all of them.

Please consider all options when choosing a weekend for your meet!
